The score is now 5-1.

The goal came after a flick on by Rickie Lambert, with the 35 year old Reds captain racing on to it and sliding it past the onrushing Begovic.

It could prove to be Gerrard’s final goal in a Liverpool shirt.

The goal also means that a goal from Everton against Spurs would see Liverpool finish fifth and go straight into the Europa League group stage, despite the shocking result.

Liverpool have been the better team since the goal, and are now pushing for a second.

The result will still leave Brendan Rodgers’ position under serious scrutiny.

Elsewhere, Liverpool have now made all three subs, meaning that we will not see want-away transfer target Raheem Sterling play any part in the game.
