Liverpool having hardly been in the match and look like a club that needs a lot of work over the summer if they are to be top four Champions League contenders next season.

The first goal came courtesy of a spill from Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet. Charlie Adam hit a rasping shot from the edge of the area, and Mame Biram Diouf was on hand to tap in the rebound.

The second was a incredible long range shot, again from Mame Biram Diouf. Mignolet stood no chance.

The third goal came after Emre Can inexplicably headed the ball straight to Jonathan Walters, whose header beat Mignolet at the second attempt.

The score only serves to reinforce how much Liverpool will miss Gerrard and possibly Raheem Sterling.

The closest Liverpool have come was a curling Adam Lallana effort from a tight angle, but they have struggled to get close to the Stoke players.

If Liverpool cannot win and Spurs do win, Spurs could finish in fifth and head straight to the Europe League group stage. Liverpool would have to play a late-July qualifier.
