Despite guiding Los Blancos to their 10th Champions League success last season, the former Chelsea boss has been given his marching orders after failing to deliver silverware this year.

But given his track record with every club he has been at, it is difficult to imagine him being short of offers to make a swift return to management.

Check out five clubs could do with the services of Ancelotti:

5) Liverpool

With manager Brendan Rodgers under fire following a disappointing season on Merseyside, the availability of a proven winner such as Ancelotti could convince the owners of the Anfield outfit to make a change of manager.

Rodgers said he would go if the owners called for it and if Ancelotti can be convinced to take over then the Northern Irishman is likely to be out of a job.

4) AC Milan

Ancelotti has already said that he wishes to return to the club he led to major success during his eight-year spell between 2001-2009.

The former Rossoneri player and manager could be the man to revitalise a side that is struggling to finish in the top half of Serie A this season.

3) Inter Milan

Roberto Mancini returned to the San Siro late last year and despite heavy investment during the January transfer window he has failed to lead the club into Europe next season, which could create a managerial vacancy.

It remains to be seen whether Ancelotti would take over at his former club’s local rivals but the challenge to restore Inter as one of the heavyweights in European football could be too hard to resist.

2) Chelsea

An option that seems very unlikely to come to fruition as Jose Mourinho does not appear to be leaving Stamford Bridge any time soon, but there were reports via Sky Sports last week that Madrid president Florentino Perez had offered the Blues boss a chance to return to the Bernabeu.

If Mourinho was somehow convinced to head back to Spain then the Premier League champions would need a suitable replacement.

After being sacked a year after winning the Premier League and FA Cup double, Ancelotti certainly has unfinished business in West London.

1) Manchester City

Reports in the Metro claim City already have a pre-contract agreement in place with the Italian, which would suggest that a deal is close between the two parties.

Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly under pressure after failing to deliver a trophy this season and as the owners crave success in the Champions League, Ancelotti would be a great option to replace the Chilean.
