Mail Sport understand the Saints could be tempted to sell the England international if they receive an offer of £15 million, but are said to remain hopeful of tying Clyne down to a new contract.

Clyne, who made his England debut in November 2014, had looked set to be the subject of a transfer wrangle between fierce rivals Liverpool and Manchester United this summer. However, according to The Times [via the Daily Star] the Red Devils have dropped their interest in the 24-year-old and are instead looking to pursue other targets for the full-back berth.

The defender featured 35 times in the Premier League this season-scoring two goals-as Ronald Koeman’s side recorded a seventh-place finish.

The Anfield outfit are on the lookout for a new right-back with experienced defender Glen Johnson set to depart when his contract expires next month, according to the Metro.

Emre Can, who has filled in at numerous times during the campaign, may be another option for Brendan Rodgers, but the former Bayern Munich man appeared uncomfortable while substituting for Johnson and the club will certainly hope that he can feature in his favoured position in the heart of the midfield.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will be looking for his transfer fortunes to improve this summer, with Clyne’s erstwhile Southampton teammates-Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert-enjoying mixed debut campaigns at Anfield.
