Manchester United transfer rumours

The Red Devils finished fourth this term and didn’t win a trophy, something van Gaal will be under pressure to ammend in 2015/16, and it looks like these big names are all firmly among his priority transfer targets…

1) Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia)

One of the best defenders in Europe this season, Nicolas Otamendi has had a superb season in La Liga for Valencia, looking exactly the kind of rock-solid player United need at the back. He could line up alongside fellow Argentine Marcos Rojo at Old Trafford next season after speculation that United are happy to pay his £36m release clause.

2) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

Consistently one of the most lethal goalscorers in Europe down the years, Gonzalo Higuain is a £42m target for both United and Liverpool this summer after another excellent campaign for Napoli. The Argentine could be reunited with his fellow countryman and old team-mate Angel Di Maria in the United attack.

3) Nicolas Gaitan (Benfica)

One of Benfica’s best players, £21m winger Nicolas Gaitan is another exciting attacking player being linked with a move to Old Trafford, having shone consistently as one of the best players in the Portuguese league in recent times.

4) Ezequiel Lavezzi (Paris Saint-Germain)

Finally, Ezequiel Lavezzi could be the fourth Argentine making his way to United this summer in a move worth around £10m, though it has been suggested this could be as part of a swap deal involving Di Maria moving to Paris Saint-Germain.
