Manchester United rumours

7) Christian Benteke (Aston Villa)

Linked with all the big clubs again this summer, Christian Benteke is unsurprisingly on Manchester United’s radar, but is his performance in the FA Cup final something to be concerned about? At £32.5m the Belgian looks a little expensive after barely touching the ball against Arsenal at Wembley.

6) Carlos Bacca (Sevilla)

A prolific striker for Sevilla in both La Liga and the Europa League, though the Colombian international is perhaps a little unproven at the very top level. As a squad player, Carlos Bacca could certainly have a role to fill at Old Trafford, though he is arguably a little limited in the same way that Javier Hernandez is.

5) Jackson Martinez (Porto)

A deadly finisher attracting plenty of interest, Porto striker Jackson Martinez looks a potentially superb signing, though it remains to be seen how he will adapt to moving to a more competitive league after only hitting top form in Portuguese football.

4) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

A proven world class striker, though Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani is arguably going to be more expensive than he’s worth, having struggled occasionally to deal with the pressure of playing for a bigger club, not quite looking as good as he did at former employers Napoli.

3) Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

One of the best strikers in the world on his day, Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a move to United several times in the past, and seems an ideal option for the club at this moment in time. The prolific Pole can score from almost any position and has consistently done it in the big games and at the top level.

2) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

A world class striker for so much of his career, Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain is also on United’s radar and is another who seems the ideal option to take Louis van Gaal’s side forward. The Argentine was undervalued at Real Madrid and deserves to be playing for a bigger club.

1) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Surely top of the list has to be Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who has done the business year in, year out for the Spanish giants since joining as a youngster back in 2009. The Frenchman has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League and is surely a guaranteed star player for United if they get him.
