Barcelona and Juventus will meet in Berlin later tonight in the final of the Champions League, with footballing mortality on the line.
The two best teams in European competition are bidding to make history by claiming a treble of domestic double and European glory.
Barcelona claimed the La Liga title ahead of Real Madrid and added the Copa del Rey to their collection last weekend by beating Athletic club Bilbao.
Juventus meanwhile were comfortable winners of La Liga with the Coppa Italia secured courtesy of a win over Lazio last month.
Barcelona of course have done it before and are already part of an illustrious group of four featuring Manchester United, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, however no one has achieved this feat twice and to do so would lay down a real marker to the rest of Europe.
Both teams have goals in them. Barcelona much vaunted front line of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi have scored 120 goals this season, while Juventus have scored over a 100 goals this season with Carlos Tevez grabbing 29 in all competitions.
The big news ahead of the game emerged on Thursday when it was revealed that Giorgio Chiellini was a doubt after injuring his calf in training. The 30 year old has suffered a first grade tear and he could join Andrea Barzagli in missing out.
The absence of Chiellini would be a massive blow especially with Messi & Co. in such fine form, it would also deprive the footballing world of a first meeting with Luis Suarez since the infamous bite-gate at the World Cup last year.
While Juventus have doubts in their defence, they do have Paul Pogba fit and ready to go. The French powerhouse has played a total of 255 minutes in Serie A and 89 in the Champion league following his return to action in early May, and he will need to be at his best on Saturday.
Barcelona for their part have a fully fit squad to choose from with Andrea Iniesta set to be fit after missing training midweek. The legendary midfielder is in line to claim a fourth Champions league crown should Barcelona win.
It should be an almighty tussle – just make sure you pick up a bookmaker offer if you are having a punt, and only bet what you can afford.
