Novak Djokovic will bid to become just the 8th person to claim all four Grand Slam singles titles when he takes on Swiss star Stan Wawrinka in the French Open final.

Djokovic, a winner of 8 grand slam titles overcame a thrilling fightback from Andy Murray in the semi-final to book his place the Paris showdown.

The world number one prevailed 6-3 6-3 5-7 5-7 6-1 to set up a clash with the eighth seed.

Despite being the top seed and world number one, Djokovic has had a tricky run to the final, overcome the challenges of Rafa Nadal and Murray to reach the final.

The Serbian is unbeaten in his last 28 matches and with an Australian Open win under his belt already this year will fancy his chances of adding to.

In all Djokovic has won the five Australian Open title, two Wimbledon titles and the US Open once, but has never tasted success at Roland Garros, twice losing to Nadal in finals.

With his nemesis out of the way, Djokovic will hope to end that record. Standing in his way is Wawrinka.

The Swiss star beat home favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-4, in extremely hot conditions on Friday to book his final spot, and will hope to add to the Australian title he won in 2014.

The 30 year old will be the most popular finalists to grace the courts of Roland Garros, having ended French hopes of a first title since 1983. In addition to knocking out Tsonga, Wawrinka beat Gilles Simon in the fourth round.

Sandwiched in between both those wins was a clash with his fellow countryman Roger Federer. Wawrinka also overcome this challenge, running out a 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 winner, ensuring that he has the big game mentality to match Djokovic.

The pair have met 20 time with Djokovic winning 17. Their most recent clash was in the final of the Australian Open with Djokovic winning, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 in a gruelling clash.
