1) Lee Cattermole (Sunderland)

With Steven Gerrard leaving for LA Galaxy, who better to come in and add some bite to Liverpool’s midfield than Sunderland star Lee Cattermole? The tough-tackling hard man is sure to beat the old Reds skipper’s speedy red card record and make up for a lack of goals and quality passes with, you know, other stuff…

2) Charles N’Zogbia (Aston Villa)

As Liverpool face the potential exit of star youngster Raheem Sterling, there could be light at the end of the tunnel for the Reds as this gives them the opportunity to sign Aston Villa winger Charles N’Zogbia. The 29-year-old Frenchman may only have five goals in the last four years, but his fairly average pace and poor decision making should give Liverpool something…different next season.

3) Joleon Lescott (West Bromwich Albion)

It’s clear Liverpool need to strengthen in defence, and Brendan Rodgers would be mad to miss out on the opportunity to sign the next Kolo Toure, ie a player who was one of the better defenders in the Premier League about five years ago. That player is West Brom’s Joleon Lescott, who played with Milner to devastating effect during their time at Manchester City.

4) Michael Dawson (Hull City)

Another defender who looks ideal for Liverpool at the moment is Hull City defender Michael Dawson, who was deemed not good enough for Tottenham, but what do they know?

5) Emmanuel Adebayor (Tottenham Hotspur)

Finally, if Ings isn’t already the club’s new answer to Luis Suarez, Liverpool could also make a sensational raid for two-goal Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor this summer. At 31 years of age, the Togolese forward has his best years ahead of him and would make for a younger, fresher replacement for club legend Rickie Lambert, who should make sure he leaves Anfield on a high.
