Man United in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Southampton full-back Nathaniel Clyne

The Anfield side have previously failed with a £10m bid for the 24 year old but now that the Saints have made their move for Sporting Lisbon’s Cedric Soares, a second offer may well be in the offing.

Man United are also said to be keen on the former Crystal Palace defender though Clyne is top of Liverpool’s wish-list.

Brendan Rodgers has already successfully landed James Milner and Danny Ings, from Man City and Burnley respectively, on free agent deals.

Liverpool spent over £100m on new players last summer but watched as almost all those who were brought in failed to make an impact, Rodgers will surely have less cash to spend this time around and has no Champions League football to offer as a carrot to potential new additions.
