Departing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will be back on UK television screens sooner than expected as BT Sport have announced the former England captain will join their team next season as part of their UEFA Champions League coverage.
Gerrard alongside former international team-mate Rio Ferdinand and long-time admirer in Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho were all confirmed to appear as regular pundits during a press conference on Tuesday morning.
Unfortunately for Gerrard he will be unable to talk about the Merseyside outfit on the show next year as his final season at the club ended in a disappointing sixth place finish and a place in the Europa League.
Ferdinand, who retired from professional football last month, took to social media and revealed his excitement at the opportunity to being apart of the high-profile team that has four Champions League medals between them.
BT Sport will be the new home of European football from the 2015/16 campaign after beating both ITV and SkySports to the rights in 2013 and will be the only place for UK customers to see if Barcelona can retain their crown next season.
