Daily Star Sport report the Manchester United boss is prepared to listen to offers for his compatriot Robin van Persie to free up funds to sign the Uruguayan international, who is valued at £50 million by the Ligue 1 champions.

Van Persie’s future at Old Trafford has come under increased speculation since the end of a season in which he found the back of the net an underwhelming 10 times in the league. However, an ankle injury sustained against Swansea City in February cost him two months of the campaign.

Upon his return to full fitness he only managed to start once under van Gaal and that was the 1-0 home defeat by West Bromwich Albion in which he cost the team at least a point by failing to convert from the penalty spot.

He has been linked with a switch to Serie A in the past week, with this season’s top three all rumoured to be interested in the 31-year-old.

Lazio have distanced themselves with a bid [via SkySports], while Mail Sport have tipped the Dutchman to join former Arsenal team-mate Ashley Cole at AS Roma next year after he was spotted in the city over the weekend.

Italian champions Juventus have also been credited with an interest after van Persie revealed [via SkySports] that he was still in contact with former United star Patrice Evra.

A deal for Cavani would ease the pain the of Dutchman’s potential departure as he would add much needed fire-power to an attacking department that has struggled for goals this year.

Despite being shifted out to the wide areas over the course of the campaign, the 28-year-old has still managed to bag 18 league goals in a title-winning year for PSG.

In addition he scored the winner in the Coupe de France final against Auxerre last month and he also helped himself to a brace against Bastia in the Coupe de la Ligue final back in April.

The striker, who is set to represent Uruguay at the 2015 Copa America, moved to Paris in 2013 after successful spells with Palermo and Napoli. Might he be tempted with a return to Serie A, or will he look to test himself in another of Europe’s major leagues?
