Manchester City are lining up a stunning summer spending spree to bring in as many as four players to improve their squad for next season, according to latest reports in the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League runners-up are no doubt desperate to win the title back off Chelsea in 2015/16, and have identified four main areas that need improving for next term, with the Mirror article listing some truly big names in Manuel Pellegrini’s sights.

The £150m quartet consists of:

1) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

Having reportedly failed with a £30m bid for Liverpool star Raheem Sterling, City are now being tipped by the Mirror to try again for the 20-year-old England winger and table an improved £40m offer, even if the Reds are described as holding out for a whopping £50m for their star youngster. Although expensive, Sterling has shown what a top talent he can be since his breakthrough in 2013/14, and with his ability to play as a striker, it may be that Pellegrini would see him as an upgrade on underperforming players like Edin Dzeko, Wilfried Bony and Stevan Jovetic.

2) Paul Pogba (Juventus)

Next up is a rumoured £58m bid to sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, who has shone as one of the world’s most promising young talents in recent years, and who would no doubt be an absolutely ideal long-term replacement for Yaya Toure in the middle of the park.

3) Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg)

Targeted in a £30m bid, Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is also on City’s radar this summer. The Belgian international had a hugely impressive season in 2014/15, notching up 10 goals and 20 assists in total, and with form like that he’d certainly be a big improvement on underperforming attacking players like Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas, whilst also helping to fill the void left after the departure of James Milner to Liverpool.

4) Giannelli Imbula (Marseille)

Finally, the Mirror claims £22m-rated Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula is also on City’s list of summer targets. The young Frenchman has put in some impressive displays in Ligue 1 this season and may be being considered by the club as an improvement on disappointing Brazilian duo Fernandinho and Fernando, who made little impact in Pellegrini’s team this term.
