Manchester United rumours

Manchester United have set their sights on signing four big names from La Liga this summer, with recent reports linking the club to some of Spain’s best talents.

The Red Devils are in need of strengthening in a number of key areas ahead of next season, with Louis van Gaal only able to guide the team to fourth place in 2014/15.

With David de Gea likely to leave, a new goalkeeper is among the Dutchman’s rumoured targets, along with additions in defence, midfield and attack.

Read on to see the four La Liga-based players strongly linked with moves to Old Trafford…

1) Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid)

One of the top young goalkeepers in Europe, Jan Oblak has caught Manchester United’s eye this summer according to sources in Spain, and the Slovenian could make the ideal replacement if De Gea does move to the Bernabeu. Transfermarkt values the 22-year-old at around £7m, though it is unclear how much United would have to pay for him.

2) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

In a £35m move, United are also being linked with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer in a bid to improve their options up front. With Radamel Falcao leaving and Robin van Persie also possibly heading for the exit, the French international looks an ideal buy for Van Gaal’s side.

3) Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao)

An immensely talented young defender, United supposedly want to rival Chelsea in a bid to bring in Athletic Bilbao starlet Aymeric Laporte, who would likely cost around £30m after attracting so much interest following his fine form this season.

4) Grzegorz Krychowiak (Sevilla)

Wanted by Arsenal, United have also been linked with a move to bring in Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak to boost their options in that position. The Polish international has a £22m release clause and looks a bargain for that price.
