Both players were far from regulars in Massimiliano Allegri’s side last term but Pochettino may still struggle to land the pair without Champions League football to offer.

Llorente failed to make a real impact last term, netting eight goals in 41 appearances in all competitions, and Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata edged ahead of the former Athletic Bilbao man in the Juventus striking pecking order by the end of the campaign.

Pochettino would do well to bring in a strong effective forward to help shoulder the burden carried by Harry Kane last term, with the likes of Roberto Soldado, Erik Lamela and Emmanuel Adebayor all failing to impress.

Ogbonna could help to beef up Tottenham’s shaky defence, the north London side having conceded more goals than any other side in the top half of the Premier League table in 2014/15.
