Arsenal transfer news

1) Nabil Bentaleb (Tottenham to Arsenal)

Tottenham players moving to Arsenal are certainly not commonplace, and it would be a pretty strange move all-round here if the Gunners did try to raid the Algerian youngster, who is believed to be stalling on signing a new contract at White Hart Lane. Despite showing some promise, the 20-year-old doesn’t look particularly like the kind of player Arsene Wenger’s side needs at the moment.

2) Alex Song (Barcelona to Chelsea)

Surely not? After a disappointing season on loan at West Ham United following two years of almost non-existence at Barcelona, it’s puzzling to see why Chelsea would sign Alex Song this summer, though reports claim they are interested in the former Arsenal man.

3) John Obi Mikel (Chelsea to Real Madrid)

Crazy – speculation earlier this month suggested Real Madrid could enter the running to sign out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, who is not exactly the kind of player to fit the ‘Galactico’ billing…

4) Edin Dzeko (Manchester City to Barcelona)

Another rumour from recent weeks, Manchester City bench-warmer Edin Dzeko has been linked with a move to warm the bench at Barcelona, with the Catalan giants supposedly keen on the Bosnian target man as a ‘Plan B’-type player. You know, just in case a front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar isn’t quite enough.

5) Rob Green (Queens Park Rangers to Chelsea)

A backup goalkeeper to replace Petr Cech, Chelsea have been linked with Queens Park Rangers shot-stopper Rob Green, though surely they could aim a little higher, even if it is just for a backup?

6) Andrea Pirlo (Juventus to Liverpool)

Replacing one ageing midfielder with another, Liverpool have been linked with a strange move to sign Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo this summer. The 36-year-old would not exactly be a great long-term buy for the Reds, though of course we’d all love to see him strut his stuff in the Premier League!
