Three Man City players who could move to Liverpool in Raheem Sterling swap-deal transfer

Our friends at Empire of the Kop recently compiled a list of nine players that they would like to see move to Anfield as part of any swap deal taking Raheem Sterling away from Liverpool.

Premier League trio Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City have all been linked with the forward. However, while none of the three may be willing to shell out the £50 million the Reds are believed to want for the player, they could all tempt Liverpool by offering Brendan Rodgers some of their ‘dead wood’.

City appear to be in need of a major shake-up following their indifferent campaign last term. A swap deal for Sterling could help them offload some of their unwanted players and also lower the average age of their squad.

Here are three Citizens stars that our comrades at EOTK would like to see move to Anfield should Sterling go in the opposite direction this summer.

Jesus Navas
The Spaniard is one player who could act as a direct replacement for Raheem Sterling should he be incorporated in any swap deal for the player.

Navas, a World Cup winner in 2010, is one of the fastest players in the Premier League and, as a supreme dribbler, is able to stretch the play and put defenders on the back foot.

The former Sevilla man has struggled for minutes at the Etihad Stadium and may well be open to a move to Anfield, where he could well be a key man.

Stevan Jovetic
Another player who has failed to find his place at City is Stevan Jovetic, who managed only 17 Premier League appearances last term.

The Montenegrin also suffered the ignominy of being axed from the Citizens’ Champions League squad and his time at the club must surely be up.

While not as much of a goal-threat as Luis Suarez, the former Fiorentina star provides a similar kind of sinuous, agile presence and could be a big hit on Merseyside.

Edin Dzeko
Bosnia hitman Dzeko could be the answer to Liverpool’s quest for a frontman to replace Suarez. A combination of the Uruguayan’s departure for Barcelona and Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems meant that Reds were at times toothless during the 2014-15 campaign.

29-year-old Dzeko—who threatens to be squeezed out of the Etihad Stadium following the January arrival of Wilfried Bony—could help solve this goal-scoring deficiency.
