Manchester United Lloris: Tottenham keeper could join Red Devils for £17.8m
Real Madrid ready to sell Sergio Ramos to Man United

Van Gaal has already snapped up Dutch winger Memphis Depay in a £25m deal and the capture of this quartet would be a real statement of intent from a club keen to once again challenge for major honours after a couple of lean seasons.

Jasper Cillessen (Ajax)

The Dutch keeper is now the first choice replacement for likely exit bound custodian David De Gea though Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris is known to be a possible alternative.

Cillessen was van Gaal’s first choice starter during Holland’s 2014 World Cup campaign and a very able performer.

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

The French forward enjoyed a couple of solid campaigns under Carlo Ancelotti but could be ready to quit the Bernabeu now that the Italian has left.

The former Lyon man was a strong Man United target during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign and has the physical presence to make a real nuisance of himself in the Premier League. Benzema has registered 20+ goals in each of his past five seasons at Real Madrid and would be an ideal forward to spearhead van Gaal’s attack.

Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)

Van Gaal is keen to make the most of the Spaniard’s apparent breakdown in relationship with Real Madrid. The 29-year-old defender would add real quality to a Man United back-line that was far too shaky last season.

Ramos can fill either a central defensive berth or as a full-back and is a hugely experienced campaigner who has won just about every honour in world football.

Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich)

The World Cup winner is a player Louis van Gaal knows well from his time at the Allianz Arena and is apparently available for as little as £7.5m as the midfield general is now in the final year of his Bayern Munich contract.

Schweinsteiger is a world-class talent who can add more guile to the Man United midfield and still has plenty in the tank.
