Real Madrid plot £21.5m bid for Arsenal star

There is no doubt however that Arsene Wenger could do with addressing in key areas of his squad that are in great need of investment, with the Arsenal manager having already made moves to fix one such problem.

Petr Cech (Chelsea) Projected fee: £10.9m

The Czech Republic international’s move to the Emirates Stadium is set to be officially confirmed in the coming days and the Blues star is a custodian who can greatly improve upon the options currently open to Wenger.

25 year old Pole Wojciech Szczesny is undoubtedly a fan favourite though this is perhaps more to do with his infectious attitude in the dressing room and the fact he is a ‘character’ as opposed to his goalkeeping brilliance. David Ospina initially impressed when he was drafted in as Arsenal’s new number one at the turn of the year but recent displays indicated the Colombian is flawed.

Cech is arguably still one of the best keepers in Europe and Jose Mourinho’s decision to usher in Thibaut Courtois as his number one could be a massive boost for Arsenal.

Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton) Projected fee: £24m

Some sources are already claiming that the St Mary’s star is edging closer to a long awaited move to the Emirates Stadium and it’s a signing that Gunners supporters will welcome gladly.

In many ways Arsene Wenger ‘got lucky’ when his decision to bring Francis Coquelin back in from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic paid off in such a big way.

Schneiderlin has had two very solid Premier League campaigns and is a player who is ready to make a ‘step-up’ and would be an ideal capture, a player who can offer some much needed protection to Arsenal’s creative talents whilst also being comfortable on the ball and an excellent distributor of the ball.

Karim Benzema Real Madrid) Projected fee: £35m

Another long term target and a player who’s future is somewhat undecided.

The French forward was a regular under Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian manager showing great faith in the former Lyon man, and Benzema more than delivered. Over the past two seasons the 27 year old scored 46 goals and provided 25 assists in 98 appearances.

Benzema would provide Arsene Wenger with a more effective spearhead for his Arsenal attack than current first choice Olivier Giroud and now may be the right time to make an official bid for the Real Madrid star.
