1) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

A badly overrated striker who hasn’t really done the business since moving to Paris Saint-Germain, Edinson Cavani is constantly being linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, but is definitely way overpriced at rumoured fees of £50m.

2) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)

For some reason heading to Chelsea after an awful season in the Premier League last term in a failed loan spell with Manchester United, Radamel Falcao is an unwise buy for the Blues and clearly a player still living off his reputation.

3) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

A young player with bags of potential, it still seems a little premature for Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling to be attracting this much hype as big clubs all around Europe show an interest, with Manchester City likely to pay up a crazy £50m to prise him away from the Reds.

4) Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich)

A player past his best, Bastian Schweinsteiger has not been a regular part of the Bayern Munich team in recent times, but is still being talked about as a potential big-name signing for Manchester United, though they could surely do better and get a more long-term option for that central midfield role.

5) Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)

A player some feel is hugely overrated, Sergio Ramos’ potential move to Manchester United has been met with much excitment, though he has often been exposed for being a hot-head, receiving huge numbers of red cards and benefitting from generally playing in otherwise strong teams for Real Madrid and Spain.

6) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

Valued at a ridiculous £67m by his club, Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain continues to be linked with big names like Arsenal and Liverpool this summer, though he is little more than a decent finisher, and certainly not better than many other strikers available for a fraction of that price this summer.

7) Nicolas Gaitan (Benfica)

A player most people judge without even having seen him play, Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan has had some good games in the Portuguese league and the Europa League, but that certainly doesn’t mean he’ll be good enough for big clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool, who continue to court him.

8) Charlie Austin (Queens Park Rangers)

One good season in the Premier League and Charlie Austin is now being talked about as a £15m player good enough for the likes of Chelsea, West Ham United and Newcastle. We’ve seen a few like him before, haven’t we?
