A look at the five worst managers in the Premier League in terms of transfers, with some shocking buys from the main men at Manchester United and Liverpool!

5) Roberto Martinez (Everton)

Spending big money on Romelu Lukaku, it’s fair to say the gamble has not yet paid off for Everton manager Roberto Martinez, who also has some questionable buys in Arouna Kone and Antolin Alcaraz. The Spaniard also spent quite a lot of money at Wigan Athletic, only to get them relegated.

4) Louis van Gaal (Manchester United)

A little harsh perhaps, but Louis van Gaal has some real flops to show for his signings so far at Manchester United, with club-record buy Angel Di Maria not doing the business so far, while Radamel Falcao was a dreadful disappointment on loan. Luke Shaw is another to have flopped completely, while the dury is out on Marcos Rojo and Victor Valdes, even if Daley Blind and Ander Herrera certainly look good purchases so far.

3) Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham)

With signings not exactly his strength at Southampton (a club-record deal for Pablo Osvaldo, most notably), Mauricio Pochettino has also failed to spend money too wisely at Tottenham so far, bringing in the likes of Federico Fazio, Benjamin Stambouli and Ben Davies, who have made little to no impact at White Hart Lane.

2) Brendan Rodgers (Liverpool)

A good manager, but transfers are clearly Brendan Rodgers’ main glaring weakness. The Liverpool manager has spent vast amounts on some terrible failures, with Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini, Iago Aspas, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert just a few that spring to mind. This summer has already seen some questionable deals, with Danny Ings, Adam Bodgan and Joe Gomez among the new arrivals.

1) Manuel Pellegrini (Manchester City)

Surely the worst of the lot is Manuel Pellegrini. Despite having huge amouts to spend since arriving at Manchester City, the Chilean has arguably failed to make even one good signing. The likes of Stevan Jovetic, Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony have all been massive flops, while Fernandinho and Martin Demichelis have been hit and miss at best.
