Chelsea have reportedly set a £14.25m asking price for Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis this summer, who is being linked with a return to his old club Atletico Madrid.

The 29-year-old only joined the Blues from Atletico last summer, having impressed greatly with some rock-solid displays in La Liga, though he has failed to recapture this form in England, with Cesar Azpilicueta firmly established as first-choice left-back ahead of him in Jose Mourinho’s team.

According to The Sun, Luis could be allowed to return to the Spanish capital this summer, but only if Chelsea receive a fee of £14.25m for the player’s services.

It is not yet clear why Chelsea signed Luis in the first place, given Azpilicueta’s fine form at Stamford Bridge for the last couple of years, and it seems plausible that he could be allowed a quick exit from the club after his difficult time in the Premier League so far.

Atletico clearly still rate the player and would do well to bring him back if he could regain the superb form he showed for Diego Simeone’s side in his first spell at the Vicente Calderon.

The Sun adds that Chelsea are not interested in any potential swap deal with the La Liga giants, which may rule out the prospect of the Premier League champions making moves for either Arda Turan or Antoine Griezmann, listed in the article as potential targets for Mourinho in this summer’s transfer market.
