Real Madrid are possibly set to offload as many as seven first-team players in this summer’s transfer window, with manager Rafael Benitez preparing to cut out the deadwood in his squad.

The Spanish giants finished trophyless last season and need to make some improvements, and these seven may have been identified as not good enough, while others are being chased by clubs who could offer tempting money…

1) Asier Illarramendi

Linked several times with a move to Liverpool, Asier Illarramendi looks like being one of the first names out of the door this summer, according to reports in Spain.

2) Alvaro Arbeloa

Formerly of Liverpool, Alvaro Arbeloa is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and has been linked with several teams this summer.

3) Sergio Ramos

A player Real will NOT want to lose, but Sergio Ramos is wanted by Manchester United in a big-money move, with the Spaniard stalling on signing a new contract, which could force the move.

4) Iker Casillas

Once a target for Arsenal, their interest has presumably ended after signing Petr Cech, but Iker Casillas looks sure to be leaving Madrid this summer as the club chase David de Gea.

5) Jese Rodriguez

Linked with Premier League clubs in the past, Jese Rodriguez faces a fight to get into the Real first-team on a regular basis, and is likely to leave this summer.

6) Fabio Coentrao

A decent left-back, but perhaps not Real Madrid quality, Fabio Coentrao has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United in the past.

7) Denis Cheryshev

Another name on Liverpool’s radar, Russian winger Denis Cheryshev looks far from making it into the Real first-team after a loan spell at Villarreal.
