Manchester United tell £8m Liverpool target to find new club

However, there are still plenty of options on the market. Here are ten other options they could go after…

10) Gonzalo Higuain, Napoli

With the Italian side no longer competing in the Champions League, the 27-year-old could be on his way. An approach from AS Roma has already been knocked back according to the Daily Express, meaning the way is open for the Premier League pair.

9) Edinson Cavani, PSG

Despite scoring 31 goals for the Ligue 1 champions last season the forward is still a target for the Red Devils, reports the Daily Telegraph. With that many goals for a top class side he could be exactly what they need.

8) Zlatan Ibrahimovic, PSG

However, if United don’t get their man then they could get his 33-year-old teammate instead. Although he is ageing, the former AC Milan man is still one of the best forwards around. Liverpool have been linked by the Liverpool Echo.

7) Alexandre Lacazette, Lyon

Both United and their Merseyside rivals are both interested in the 29-goal man according to the Daily Star. After such an amazing season almost helped Lyon to beat their illustrious rivals PSG to the Ligue 1 title he could help both English sides to challenge for the Premier League in a similar manner.

6) Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid

Netted 25 times for the Rojiblancos in his debut season, but could already be on his way. The striker has a £43.5 million release clause [Daily Star], but he could well be worth it.

5) Mauro Icardi, Inter Milan

Just 22-years-old and already a key player for the Nerazzurri, and could be a great signing for the next decade if anyone picks him up. They will have to fight off Real Madrid for his signature though, reports AS.

4) Harry Kane, Tottenham

32 goals in all competitions last time round, and if the youngster is able to get anywhere near that again he will be a fine investment. Man Utd have been linked by Sky Sports, but it could take a mega offer for them to take him from White Hart Lane.

3) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Borussia Dortmund

One of the few shining lights for BVB in a poor campaign last time round. The Liverpool Echo have linked Liverpool, and he could well be a great replacement for Raheem Sterling should the youngster leave Anfield.

2) Karim Benzema, Real Madrid

Although the striker was a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s team last season, but will be allowed to leave this summer according to talkSPORT. While the Anfield outfit are unlikely to be able to sign him, Champions League football at Old Trafford may be enough to entice the player in to coming to England.

1) Christian Benteke, Aston Villa

£32.5 million is the Belgium international’s release clause, which does sound pricey for a player who has never played in European competition. Both United and the Reds have been linked by the Daily Express though, and he is a proven Premier League scorer.
