According to Goal, the Portugal winger is delighted to have begun a new chapter in his career after moving to the Istanbul giants.

He’s not the only player to be axed by Louis van Gaal today, with former wonderkid Angelo Henriquez also being shown the exit door, completing a move to Dinamo Zagreb according to the Manchester Evening News.

Don’t expect the two departures to seal the end of LVG’s clearout, as the Dutch coach attempts to stamp his identity on the Red Devils’ squad.

However, who else will the coach offload before the new campaign begins?

In this feature, we present five players who could be set for the exit door at Old Trafford.

6) Adnan Januzaj

Januzaj failed to build on his impressive maiden campaign with Old Trafford and was a peripheral figure last term; he made 18 appearances without scoring or contributing a single assist.

The Mirror report that Everton are considering bringing him on loan this season, and the prospect of a regular campaign of first-team action in the EPL may well appeal to the young Belgian.

5) Robin van Persie

The Guardian reported on Saturday that Dutch striker Robin van Persie is close to completing a move to Fenerbahce, having agreed terms with the Turkish giants. The frontman’s move has not been confirmed, but his departure ought to be made official imminently.

4) Chicharito

He may not have been kept on by Real Madrid, but Liverpool may yet offer Javier Hernandez a route out of Old Trafford, according to the Daily Star. West Ham United have also been linked to the forward, according to the Daily Mail.

3) Jonny Evans

As Louis van Gaal looks to reshuffle his defensive pack, and bring in new players such as Sergio Ramos, Jonny Evans may find himself surplus to requirements. The Northern Irish centre-back is an influential figure at United, but van Gaal may decide his time at Old Trafford has run its course.

The Daily Star understand that the centre-back may be used as a makeweight in the deal to bring either John Stones or Seamus Coleman to the north-west.

2) Rafael

Manchester United have been linked with Gregory van der Wiel, the aforementioned Coleman and Nathaniel Clyne over the last few weeks, suggesting that van Gaal is not content with the club’s current right-back options.

Should either van der Wiel or Coleman arrive (Clyne is, of course, no longer an option), then Rafael would surely be surplus to requirements…some would suggest he already is.

1) Angel Di Maria

He may have contributed 10 assists last term, but the jury remains out on Angel Di Maria, who cost almost £60 million when he signed from Real Madrid a year ago. The winger has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich-possibly in a deal that brings Bastian Schweinsteiger to Old Trafford-while the Red Devils’ reported interest in Nicolas Gaitan would suggest van Gaal is considering his options.
