Raheem Sterling set for £4m windfall if Man City seal £50m transfer of Liverpool youngster

Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling stands to bank £4m should he complete a £50m move to Manchester City, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 20-year-old Anfield star has been strongly linked with a move away from Merseyside since the tail end of last season, and having failed with two bids [via the Daily Mail] Man City are set to launch a third offer according to the Telegraph.

Sterling has, unsurprisingly, become a target for a great deal of abuse from the Liverpool faithful and with the club’s pre-season tour of Australia looming one wonders if the England international will be on the plane down under.

Raheem Sterling moved from Queens Park Rangers to Liverpool in 2010 and has matured into one of the hottest prospects in European football, netting 11 goals in all competitions last term. His side’s failure to secure a Champions League berth is said to be a major factor behind the attacker’s decision to turn down advances of a new contract [via the Independent].

Brendan Rodgers has been very busy this summer, signing six players already, and the capture of Brazilian Roberto Firmino should certainly help to beef up Liverpool’s ineffective attack [Liverpool Echo].

Last term, the likes of Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini all failed to impress, whilst Daniel Sturridge missed much of the season through injury. This lack of cutting edge saw Liverpool fall from a second place finish in 2013/14 down to a Europa League qualification spot in 2014/15.
