The 31 year old appears surplus to requirements under Louis van Gaal after a lacklustre season in 2014/15, during which the former Arsenal man bagged just ten Premier League goals, and Man United have reportedly accepted a £4.9m bid for his services.

Man United paid £24m for Van Persie in the summer of 2012 and the experienced marksman enjoyed a superb debut season at the club, netting 30 goals and helping Sir Alex Ferguson’s side to a Premier League title, but the usually lethal finisher hasn’t hit those heights in the past two seasons and looks set for pastures new.

Van Persie is set for an imminent medical and his departure frees up funds with the Man United star’s £200k a week salary set to be wiped off the balance sheet.
