Robin van Persie looks set to become the latest big name to make the move to Turkish football after reportedly agreeing personal terms with Fenerbahce, so here are some other greats who ended up in Turkey…

1) Didier Drogba (Galatasaray)

A Chelsea legend who found his way to Galatasaray after a failed spell in China, Didier Drogba proved a big hit for the Turkish giants before rejoining the Blues for one season.

2) Roberto Carlos (Fenerbahce)

After he passed his peak at Real Madrid, Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos had a brief spell in Turkish football with Fenerbahce.

3) Dirk Kuyt (Fenerbahce)

A popular figure during his time with Liverpool, Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt also made a name for himself in Turkey after leaving Anfield for a move to Fenerbahce.

4) Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray)

A real coup for Galatasaray, Wesley Sneijder was a surprise signing from Inter Milan when he was still, relatively speaking, at his peak and linked with the likes of Manchester United.

5) Demba Ba (Besiktas)

A top striker in the Premier League, Demba Ba was prolific scorer with West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea before making the move to Turkish side Besiktas.

6) Arda Turan (Galatasaray)

A top class playmaker now with Atletico Madrid and attracting interest from Chelsea and Barcelona, Arda Turan first made a name for himself at Galatasaray.

7) Hakan Sukur (Galatasaray, Sakaryaspor, Bursaspor)

Despite limited success elsewhere, Hakan Sukur was a hugely prolific striker for Galatasaray and the Turkish national team.

8) Nani (Fenerbahce)

A new addition who could be joined by former United team-mate Van Persie, Nani will be a big addition to Turkish football as he joins Fenerbahce this summer.

9) Lukas Podolski (Galatasaray)

Another new boy who has just joined Galatasaray from Arsenal, Lukas Podolski is a World Cup winner and still capable of brilliant moments as he heads to Turkey.
