Arsenal transfer rumours
Study reveals 20 most valuable Under 21s in Europe, Arsenal and Chelsea stars left trailing by Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling

However, with the 20-year-old being linked with a move away from Anfield by The Independent, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is likely going to have to find a replacement for the winger before long. The 42-year-old has already signed Roberto Firmino this summer, but with the Brazilian more suited to playing centrally here are five other players he could bring in for the wide areas…

5) Theo Walcott, Arsenal

Although the Metro reported last month that the England international was set to sign a new contract with the Gunners, he still hasn’t. This could leave the Reds able to sign the 26-year-old, and his direct running and lightning pace could be exactly what the Merseyside club need to get back in to the Champions League.

4) Pedro, Barcelona

With Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar filling the front three positions at the Nou Camp and the recent signing of Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid, there isn’t really any room for the 27-year-old at the Catalan club. Could Liverpool pounce to sign a  player who has won everything?

3) Eduardo Salvio, Benfica

Another tricky winger with pace, the 24-year-old scored ten times in 35 games last time round. He would be a sound acquisition if that can be transferred to the Premier League.

2) Ezequiel Lavezzi, PSG

Not getting any younger at 30-years-old, but the Argentina international is still able to contribute at the highest level. This was shown in his 45 appearances last season for the Parisian outfit, helping them to the Ligue 1 title and Champions League quarter finals.

1) Lucas Moura, PSG

If the Reds can’t get Lavezzi, then a better option could be his Parc des Princes teammate. The 22-year-old managed nine goals and six assists in 45 games last time round, and will only improve in upcoming campaigns. Very similar to Sterling, in his style of play, but could cost a lot to entice to Anfield.
