However, manager Brendan Rodgers doesn’t seem to be finished there, with Barcelona star Pedro and Aston Villa ace Christian Benteke now being strongly linked with moves to Anfield. The departure of Raheem Sterling also seems to be becoming more and more likely.

With all this movement at the Merseyside club, how could they line up next season?

GK) Simon Mignolet

Bogdan may have been signed for this position, but it is likely that the former Bolton man will be a back up for the 27-year-old at first. However, if the Belgian makes mistakes again, he could be dropped very quickly.

RB) Nathaniel Clyne

The Reds did use three at the back for much of the last campaign, but with the England international being so good at full-back it will likely mean a switch back to a four man defence.

LB) Alberto Moreno

Signed last summer, and the 23-year-old was one of a few bright spots last time round after he got used to the pace of the league.

CB) Martin Skrtel

Expected to sign a new contract soon, which should mean he will be at the heart of the defence for years to come.

CB) Mamadou Sakho

The France international may look clumsy and error-prone, but statistics show that he is actually a fairly reliable centre-back. Even so, it could be that Rodgers looks to strengthen here before the transfer window closes.

CM) Jordan Henderson

Almost certainly set to be named captain for the upcoming campaign, and as such will be a regular in the side.

CM) James Milner

Largely used on the wing at Manchester City, but played some of his best football in the middle while at Aston Villa and showed it again when deputising for Yaya Toure last season.

LW) Pedro

If the Barcelona man joins the Reds it could mean that Sterling is on his way. Fans shouldn’t be worried though, the Spain international would be the perfect replacement.

RW) Philippe Coutinho

Likely to drift inside and effect the game as he did in the last campaign still, but the arrival of Firmino means that he could nominally be pushed wide.

CAM) Roberto Firmino

The Brazil international managed 12 goals and 10 assists for Hoffenheim last time round, and will hope to match that in the Premier League.

ST) Christian Benteke

Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems mean that he is likely to miss many games if his recent history is anything to go by, meaning the Aston Villa man could be a regular if signed. If he arrives for £32.5 million then the Belgian will certainly have to play.

SUBS) Adam Bogdan, Kolo Toure, Joe Gomez, Lucas Leiva, Adam Lallana, Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge

WIth these seven on the bench, Rodgers will genuinely be able to change games with his substitutions, which wasn’t the case last time round.
