Manchester United look on the verge of completing two exciting defensive deals for the summer transfer window, according to latest reports.

The Red Devils have had a fairly quiet summer so far, doing nothing since completing a £30m deal for Memphis Depay, but are now being tipped for two quickfire pieces of business.

With Louis van Gaal clearly in need of strengthening his defence, £48m could go on these two top class players…

1) Matteo Darmian (Torino)

In a £12m move, United could announce the signing of Torino right-back Matteo Darmian today after the Italian international was reported as having a medical ahead of a transfer to Old Trafford.

2) Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia)

Secondly, United are also being tipped to sign £36m Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi this summer, with the Red Devils urgently in need of better options in that area, though Chelsea have also shown a strong interest in the Argentine in recent times.
