DONE DEAL: Sunderland complete signing of Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul

Sunderland have completed the signing of French defender Younes Kaboul from fellow Barclays Premier League outfit Tottenham for an undisclosed fee, Standard Sport reports.

The Black Cats broke the news via their official Twitter account on Thursday night to announce the capture of the experienced centre-half on a four-year contract and he becomes manager Dick Advocaat’s fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of Sebastian Coates, Adam Matthews and Jeremain Lens.

Kaboul enjoyed two separate spells with the North London outfit but found first-team opportunities limited last season as manager Mauricio Pochettino preferred the likes of Jan Vertonghen Eric Dier and Federico Fazio at the heart of the Spurs defence, despite the fact that the Frenchman was officially listed as the club captain.

The arrivals of two new defenders at White Hart Lane in Kevin Wimmer and Toby Alderweireld this summer would have resulted in even less game time this season and the 29-year-old has opted to seek a transfer to the Stadium of Light in order to play regularly.
