Manchester United star desperate for summer transfer; but not to Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria is itching for a return to Real Madrid, reports from Spain state.

According to Spanish newspaper ABC, the Argentina international is regretting his decision last summer to depart the Santiago Bernabeu, and is said to be desperate for new Los Blancos manager Rafael Benitez to consider bringing him back to Madrid.

The report states that the 27-year-old became obsessed with earning as much money as possible during his career with the La Liga BBVA giants, which was a key reason for his accepting of a move to Old Trafford.

Di Maria earns £280,000 per-week with the Premier League heavyweights, The Guardian reported last October.

ABC are suggesting that Louis van Gaal does not value the versatile forward in the same manner as Real did, while the player himself is allegedly struggling with the ‘cloudy’ climate of England.

Nonetheless, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Isco Alarcon, Karim Benzema, and James Rodriguez competing for places in attack with the Meringues – where could Di Maria fit into Benitez’s plans?

Of the five players stated, Isco and Benzema may be considered the most expendable by the former Liverpool manager; however – as at Old Trafford – Di Maria may unlikely be guaranteed a regular position.

It’s been persistently suggested that the Argentine is attempting to engineer an exit from Manchester before the start of the 2015-16 campaign, and it’s PSG who continue to be credited with interest.

The Daily Mail claim that the Ligue 1 champions believe that a deal can be finalised by as early as this weekend, and his manager, Louis van Gaal, recently admitted at a press-conference in Seattle that United’s record-breaking signing has an uncertain future with the club at present:

“In football, it is a process, as I have said many times before in press conferences. It’s not clear in one day,” as quoted by Sky Sports.

“It’s a process for Angel Di Maria, it’s a process for Manchester United and we shall see.

“But he is still a member of Manchester United and he has said to me he will come on July 25.”

What’s more, his family are rumoured to have failed to settle into life in the English city – which could be as a consequence of the burglary suffered on their Cheshire in February [via The Guardian].
