10) Memphis Depay, Manchester United

The 21-year-old fired PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title with 22 league goals last season. Could he be similarly inspirational for the Red Devils? They will need it if a they are going to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League.

9) Bastian Schweinsteiger, Manchester United

Not only have the Red Devils got a forward who will be key to their fortunes, but how Schweinsteiger adapts to English football could be vital. Having won the World Cup and Champions League in recent seasons, this shouldn’t be a problem and the 30-year-old could be bossing midfields near you very soon.

8) Christian Benteke, Liverpool

While the additions of Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan, and Roberto Firmino will make a difference, it is likely that Brendan Rodgers’ job could hang on whether Benteke hits the back of the net regularly. After struggling to score freely last time round, the Reds’ fortunes could be on the way back up after signing the goalscorer.

7) Radamel Falcao, Chelsea

The Blues visibly struggled when Diego Costa was hit by injuries in the last campaign. This time round they will have the Colombia international to backup his former Atletico Madrid teammate, but some will worried about this following his struggles at Manchester United. If Jose Mourinho can get the 29-year-old firing he could be the bargain of the summer.

6) Raheem Sterling, Manchester City

A lack of homegrown talent has been a problem for several years at the Etihad stadium, and the 20-year-old could be the answer they have been waiting for. After splashing out for him from Liverpool, a lot of pressure will be on the England international from the beginning. However, having won the European Golden Boy award for the best Under 21 on the continent last time round, he has the ability to rise to the occasion.

5) Toby Alderweireld, Tottenham

Spurs conceded 53 goals in the Premier League last season, which was similar to the totals let in by teams relegated from the division. With it being very risky to rely on Harry kane to dig them out of a hole again, the performances of the defender will be vital. He displayed at Southampton that he has what it takes in English football.

4) Gerard Deulofeu, Everton

Roberto Martinez struggled to replicate the success of his debut campaign last time round, and will need a good start to avoid questions over his job. However, with the arrival of Deulofeu he now has all of the loanees that were so important in their fifth place finish are back with the Toffees. The Spaniard certainly has the ability, but it is his decision making that will need to improve now he is at the club permanently.

3) Dimitri Payet, West Ham

There was shock in some quarters when the top assist-maker in Ligue 1 moved to the Hammers, and it was quite the coup for the Premier League side. If he can replicate the 17 goals he created last time round, the midfielder could push the East London outfit in to European contention.

2) Petr Cech, Arsenal

Reliability at the back is not something the Gunners are known for, but the arrival of the Chelsea legend could change all of that. The 33-year-old could make such a difference to Arsene Wenger’s side that they bridge the 12 point gap to his former club and challenge for the Premier League title.

1) Yohan Cabaye, Crystal Palace

Alan Pardew enticing his former charge to Selhurst Park could be the story of the season if he recreates the form that earned him a move to PSG in January 2014. The Eagles’ next step must be to push for the top ten, which will be a tough ask but not beyond them with the 29-year-old.
