Manchester United transfer news: £45m forward demands summer move

Manchester United star Angel Di Maria has demanded a move to PSG, reports the Daily Express.

The 27-year-old is keen to leave the Red Devils after failing to settle in England during the last 12 months. A break in to his home has apparently left the player traumatised [Daily Mail], and may have contributed to his family’s desire to leave the country.

This comes after the forward failed to link up with United on their tour of the USA [BBC]. Manager Louis van Gaal doesn’t know why the winger isn’t with the squad, and it could be that he is waiting for a move to be completed.

The Premier League outfit actually face the Ligue 1 champions in a friendly on Wednesday, and the Express believe a transfer will be completed after that fixture.

The former Real Madrid man is looking likely to join the French side for £45m [Daily Telegraph]. This would be a major loss for United, who signed him for £59.7m just last summer [Man Utd official site]. However, as one of the richest teams in the world [Daily Mail], they can probably take the hit.

Should Di Maria complete a transfer, the Red Devils will surely need to move quickly to sign a replacement. They have been heavily linked to a £22.8m bid for Barcelona star Pedro [Daily Star], while an emotional return for Cristiano Ronaldo is also being mooted [Manchester Evening News].

Still, the club have already brought in Memphis Depay from PSV this summer, and have other similar attackers like Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj in their ranks, which could be a cost-effective way of dealing with the player’s departure.
