Tottenham prepare move for Man United attacker as alternative to £40m Premier League star

Tottenham have set their sights on Man United winger Ashley Young as an alternative target to Crystal Palace’s Yannick Bolasie according to the Daily Mirror.

The 30-year-old England international showed a real upturn in form in 2014/15, becoming a regular in Louis van Gaal’s starting eleven, but the arrival of Memphis Depay could restrict his involvement in Man United’s first-team plans.

Young made 26 Premier League appearances last season, used both as full-back or in his more accustomed role further up the flank, but is yet to sign a new contract with his current deal set to expire in less than a year (via the Daily Mail).

The Daily Mirror claim Tottenham are looking to sell either Aaron Lennon, who spent time out on loan at Everton last season, or Andros Townsend with a number of prospective suitors keen on the England international pair.

White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino had been tracking Crystal Palace wide-man Yannick Bolasie but the North London side have been told to fork out £40m for the Congo international (via the London Evening Standard).

Last season Pochettino opted to use Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen as his regular wide and creative attacker options.
