10) David Luiz, £75.35m

Thanks to the unbelievably high £50 million that PSG paid Chelsea for the Brazil international, he has made it in to tenth. The £25 million that the Blues splashed out on the player from Benfica also doesn’t hurt.

9) Juan Sebastian Veron, £79m

Although clearly not suited to English football and a flop at both clubs, Chelsea and Manchester United each spent big on the Argentinian. Lazio also splurged £21 million on the midfielder from Parma.

8) Nicolas Anelka, £86.8m

Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City, and Bolton are all among those to have spent big on ‘Le Sulk’. However, the Frenchman doesn’t seem to have ever really fitted in at any of his 12 clubs.

7) Radamel Falcao, £90.3m

Although the 29-year-old is yet to shower himself in glory in English football, he was amazingly successful at both Porto and Atletico Madrid on the continent. This led to the £53 million that AS Monaco spent on the striker, adding to the £33 million that Atleti splashed out as well as other fees.

6) Cristiano Ronaldo, £92.2m

Most of this comes from his then record breaking move from Manchester United to Real Madrid, but the Red Devils did also pay £12.2 million for him fro Sporting Lisbon.

5) Gareth Bale, £96m

Another massive Galactico signing, the Welshman joined Tottenham for only £10 million before going to Bernabeu several years later.

4) Luis Suarez, £103.5m

The first of the £100m+ group, Suarez has proved himself well worth the £75 million Barcelona paid last season.

3) James Rodriguez, £106.5m

AS Monaco spent £38.5 million, before Real trumped even them with a £63 million move for the Colombian after his World Cup exploits.

2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic, £126.7m

Unbelievable talent coupled with a propensity to fall out with those around him has led to monstrous amounts of money being spent on the 33-year-old more regularly than most. He has also been able to play for European giants such as Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona, and PSG.

1) Angel Di Maria, £132.6m (if PSG move goes through)

Although not experiencing a terrible debut campaign on the pitch, incidents off it have appeared to unsettle the former Real Madrid man. A £44 million move could join his £60 million move from Real Madrid to United and £23 million transfer from Benfica to the Bernabeu.
