Chelsea transfers: Blues’ 10 WORST sales, including Cech to Arsenal, Mata to Man Utd & duo to Liverpool

Chelsea transfers – Blues’ worst sales of recent times.

1) Petr Cech

Sold to rivals Arsenal this summer, Petr Cech is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world and should prove a huge asset for the Gunners.

2) Juan Mata

Another world class player, Juan Mata was sold to Manchester United for £37.1m in January 2014 and that looks a big mistake after the Spaniard was the Blues’ Player of the Year for two seasons in a row.

3) Andre Schurrle

Not the best player in the world, but still a youngster with plenty of potential who didn’t get enough playing time at Stamford Bridge, despite often being a regular for Germany – no mean feat by any means.

4) Kevin De Bruyne

Alongside Schurrle at Wolfsburg, Kevin De Bruyne is another top talent Chelsea let go, and the £60m-rated Belgian is now wanted by Manchester City.

5) Scott Parker

Despite not looking at his best as a Chelsea player, Scott Parker looks like he was sold too soon after going on to star for clubs like Newcastle and Tottenham, as well as for England, becoming captain for all three sides.

6) Daniel Sturridge

One of the best strikers in the Premier League on his day, Daniel Sturridge has been a big hit since moving to Liverpool for a bargain £12m, despite some injury problems.

7) William Gallas

Allowed to join Arsenal in the Ashley Cole swap deal, William Gallas was one of the club’s best defenders and was something of a surprise sale.

8) Arjen Robben

A world class talent who has only improved further after spells with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, it remains unclear as to why Chelsea let Arjen Robben go when they did.

9) Glen Johnson

A player Chelsea tried to re-sign from Portsmouth after he showed tremendous form at Fratton Park, Glen Johnson instead moved to Liverpool and became a key player for the club until last season.

10) Romelu Lukaku

One of the world’s best youngsters, Romelu Lukaku was bizarrely offloaded to Everton last summer and replaced by a 36-year-old Didier Drogba, who lasted just a year in a second spell in one of the strangest Chelsea transfers of recent times.
