Chelsea transfer rumours
Arsenal challenge Liverpool in bid for £14.9m La Liga wing wizard

GK) Petr Cech, 8

Didn’t have much to do in the first half, but was solid when called upon in the second. One save from an Oscar free-kick was especially impressive.

RB) Hector Bellerin, 8

It is a testament to the 20-year-old’s abilities that Eden Hazard was quiet for much of the match.

LB) Nacho Monreal, 8

Willian was just as quiet as Hazard for much of the encounter, and the Spaniard was well on top of the winger.

CB) Per Mertesacker, 6

Dealt well with Loic Remy and then Radamel Falcao, but it may be a different story when up against someone like Diego Costa.

CB) Laurent Koscielny, 6

Made no mistakes, but was also rarely called upon until the second half. He performed well when was forced in to action.

CM) Francis Coquelin, 7

The Frenchman has transformed the Gunners’ midfield, giving them someone to rely on to do the defensive work.

CM) Aaron Ramsey, 8

Helped the team to almost completely dominate the first half, and never seemed to stop running.

CAM) Santi Cazorla, 8

Another who helped keep Chelsea out of it until the latter stages. His range of passing is something to behold.

RAM) Mesut Ozil, 6

Didn’t live up to his pre-game billing as Arsenal’s main man, and was peripheral to much of the game.

LAM) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 9

A brilliant performance from the 21-year-old, with a well taken goal to cap it off. Could this be his breakthrough season?

ST) Theo Walcott, 6

Showed what he can do in the central striker’s role at the back end of last season, but looked like he was still learning the trade here.

SUB) Olivier Giroud, 6

Did nothing special in the 25 minutes he was given on the pitch.

SUB) Mikel Arteta, 5

Again, didn’t add much when on the pitch, except for almost getting in to a fight with Falcao.

SUB) Kieran Gibbs, 5

Didn’t have enough time to make an impact.
