The Red Devils have been linked to the midfielder throughout the summer, and a £21.1 million bid has been rumoured. There may be more urgency to sign the 27-year-old now though, with Angel Di Maria getting closer to a move to PSG.
As such they are willing to offer Hernandez, who doesn’t seem to have an Old Trafford future. The Mexico international was on loan at Real Madrid during the last campaign, and scored seven goals in 859 La Liga minutes for Los Merengues. However, this doesn’t seem to have been enough to persuade manager Louis van Gaal to keep him.
Gaitan could be the perfect replacement for his fellow Argentina international. The Benfica man is able to play on either wing, and is known for his dribbling ability. This is similar to Di Maria, but he does have less experience at the highest level than the United ace.
With Louis van Gaal leading his side back in to the Champions League next season this could be a serious deficiency. The team will need players who know how to cut it in big games, and as a result Barcelona ace Pedro may be a better option. The Spain international has been linked by Sky Sports.
