Daniel Sturridge is set to hand Liverpool a timely fitness boost by targeting a return to first-team action against Manchester United early next month, Mail Sport reports.

Liverpool are not expected to challenge for the Premier League, but if you think that their new signings and a healthy Sturridge will enable them to do it, use this betting bonus code to have a punt.

The England international endured a nightmare season for the Reds last year as his campaign was blighted with a number of niggling injuries which caused him to make just 12 appearances in the Barclays Premier League.

His season was cut short in April as he picked up an injury during the club’s FA Cup quarter-final replay victory against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park and underwent hip surgery which was initially set to sideline him until October at the earliest [via Independent Sport].

However, the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker has been working hard over in the United States to get back to full fitness and is set to return to Liverpool’s training base in the next couple of weeks to finish the final part of his rehabilitation.

Should all go to plan then Sturridge could make the Reds squad for their crunch match against their fierce rivals at Old Trafford on September 12th.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers will have the luxury of easing Sturridge back into action as he won’t be too over-reliant on his goals this season now that the likes of Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino have been signed to add extra depth in attack.
