Tottenham handed major boost in pursuit of £20m transfer target as Crystal Palace sign potential replacement

Tottenham have been handed a huge boost in their hopes to sign talented winger Yannick Bolasie from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace this summer.

The Eagles confirmed the capture of Bakary Sako on a free transfer on Wednesday afternoon [via BBC Sport] and the Mali international could possibly be viewed as a direct replacement for Bolasie, who reportedly has a £20million price-tag on his head and is attracting interest from the White Hart Lane side.

The 26-year-old has become a key player for the South Londoners following an impressive end to last season where he made history by becoming the first Palace player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick when he netted an 11-minute treble against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light back in April.

That form has seen Bolasie emerge as a transfer target for Spurs as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Palace have remained adamant the DR Congo midfielder will not be allowed to leave Selhurst Park before the end of the transfer window, but with Sako being signed it could be a hint that they are now willing to listen to offers for their prized asset.
