Tottenham open talks with Lyon over the signing of highly-rated Ligue 1 starlet

Tottenham are in talks with Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais for the signing of talented young striker Clinton N’Jie, according to reports in Standard Sport.

The north London outfit are expected to offload both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado before the end of the transfer window and the club are keen to bring in replacements in order to ease the burden on Harry Kane this season.

West Brom striker Saido Berahino and Queens Park Rangers hitman Charlie Austin have both been linked with moves to White Hart Lane this summer, but it appears N’Jie has emerged as the club’s main target and talks over a potential deal have begun.

The report states that Spurs are prepared to offer £8.4million with the promise of add-ons for the 21-year-old, however, it’s understood that last season’s Ligue 1 runners-up want £10.4million in a one-off payment.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree a fee for N’Jie, but there is no denying that the young Cameroonian is destined for a great career in the game as he scored and registered seven goals and assists in 30 league appearances last season and is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football at the moment.
