THREE signings Arsenal still need if they are going to beat Chelsea to the Premier League

Arsenal are among the favourites to win the Premier League in the coming season, but there is still more they need to do in the transfer market if they are going to be successful.

Arsene Wenger has already brought a goalkeeper to the club in Petr Cech, meaning the error-prone Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina won’t have to be relied upon between the sticks. 3) Striker

Although Olivier Giroud is a very good player, he isn’t at the same level as their title rivals’ main strikers Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa. If the North Londoners are going to challenge that pair then they are going to need a forward on a similar level.

2) Centre-back

Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have formed a solid partnership at the back, but if either gets injured then the unproven Gabriel Paulista and out of position Calum Chambers are all Wenger has to fall back on. With a long season ahead, this isn’t enough squad depth for a club fighting on four fronts.

1) Central midfield

More specifically, holding midfield. Francis Coquelin cannot be expected to play every game of the campaign, and should he be rested or injured then they are back relying on Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta. With the addition of another top player in the position, the Gunners could be set for success.
