5. Chelsea make ‘secret’ €65million bid

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Jose Mourinho has been secretly pursuing Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, and may have made an offer of as much as €65million for his signature.

4. De Bruyne closing in on Premier League return

Former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, according to The Guardian, could be making a return to England’s top flight this month – if Manchester City meet Wolfsburg’s £45m asking price.

3. Jose Mourinho confident on another signing this summer

Jose Mourinho confirmed at his press-conference that the Blues are in need of a left-back. After Filipe Luis’ return to Atletico Madrid, Chelsea have only Cesar Azpilicueta in the position. Reports from Sky Sports suggest Augsburg’s Baba Rahman could be the new signing.

2. Top target John Stones urged to snub Chelsea

The Everton centre-back emerged as a major target for the Premier League champions only a few weeks ago, and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told the youngster to reject their advances. Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Carragher believes Stones should continue his development at Goodison Park. 

1. Jose Mourinho signs new Blues contract

A day before their title-defending campaign kicks off, Chelsea announced that Jose Mourinho had put pen-to-paper on a new four-year contract. The Portuguese manager will be in the Stamford Bridge dug-out until at least 2019.

‘If the club is happy, I am happy. I think this is a normal thing for me to sign a new contract. It is important we have this continuity and I hope we can enjoy more success in the future – for the fans, the players and the club,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘I said when I returned here two years ago that I have a special feeling for this club and nothing changed. It is the club closest to my heart and I am very happy to know I will be staying here for a long time.’
