Man Utd XI with potential signings of £74m Bayern Munich duo, La Liga superstar & Arsenal target

How Man Utd could line up after even more summer spending.

Manchester United may be about to kick off the new season today, but Louis van Gaal seemingly still has more signings up his sleeve before the transfer deadline at the end of the month.

According to various recent reports, as many as four new players could still come in, with Van Gaal enjoying some cash to spend after the sale of Angel Di Maria and imminent exit of David de Gea, so here’s a look at a possible United team for September onwards…

GK: Sergio Romero

Signed to replace De Gea, it looks like Sergio Romero will be United’s new number one in goal this season.

DR: Matteo Darmian

A superb buy from Torino this summer, Matteo Darmian is set to be first choice at right-back.

DL: Luke Shaw

Tipped for a big season, Luke Shaw should become United’s starting left-back for 2015/16.

DC: Chris Smalling

Ending last season in impressive form, Chris Smalling should be in line to be a regular starter at centre-back for the Red Devils.

DC: Sergio Ramos

Still a top target from Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos could be on his way to Old Trafford in the coming weeks after a contract dispute at the Bernabeu.

MC: Lucas Biglia

With Van Gaal admitting Bastian Schweinsteiger is unfit, Lazio captain Lucas Biglia has been linked with the club again and could be the main starter in midfield.

MC: Morgan Schneiderlin

Signed from Southampton earlier this summer, Morgan Schneiderlin is sure to partner Biglia in the middle of the park.

AMR: Memphis Depay

Starting on the right, United’s new number 7 Memphis Depay could be a key player for the club this season after his £30m move from PSV.

AML: Mario Gotze

Unsettled at Bayern Munich, Mario Gotze has been linked with a shock exit to either United or Arsenal, and the £30m German would be superb on the Reds’ left-hand side.

AMC: Wayne Rooney

Dropping a little deeper than initially intended, Wayne Rooney takes up this number ten role as he did quite successfully last season.

FC: Robert Lewandowski

Also on United’s radar is Robert Lewandowski, who would surely be the main striker if he made the £44m move to Old Trafford alongside Gotze.
