Manchester City player ratings vs West Brom: David Silva and Yaya Toure SHINE in easy win for City

Manchester City kicked off their 2015-16 Premier League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns on Monday night as they put down a marker for the new season.

Take a look at how we have rated the City players.

GK) Joe Hart

Not much for the England number one to do in truth as he never looked in any real danger to concede and that was thanks in part to a solid performance from those in front of him. 6/10.

RB) Bacary Sagna

With first-choice right-back Pablo Zabaleta rested for the game, Sagna made the most of his rare opportunity in the starting XI as he kept James McLean very quiet in the first period. 7/10.

CB) Vincent Kompany (C)

After a below-par season last year, the City skipper looked back to his best against the Baggies and he capped a good display with a thumping header in the second half to seal the victory. 8/10.

CB) Eliaquim Mangala

Big season for the Frenchman following his difficulties in his debut campaign for the club and he produced a solid performance alongside Kompany. 7/10.

LB) Aleksandar Kolarov

Done his chances no harm of being installed at the first choice left-back for the new season as he got forward very well and could have got on the scoresheet. 7/10.

CM) Fernandinho

Quiet but effective performance by the Brazilian midfielder as he and Toure dominated the battle in the engine room. 7/10.

CM) Yaya Toure

The Ivorian was criticised on numerous occasions last season, but Toure proved once again why he’s still the best central midfielder in England with a brilliant performance and the finish for City’s second was something special. 8/10.

AMC) David Silva – MOTM

Yet another majestic performance from the Spanish playmaker, has a legitimate claim for City’s opener which deflected in off him and also provided an assist for Kompany in the second half. 9/10.

AMR) Jesus Navas

Plenty of energy from the pacy Spanish winger and he cut the ball back for City’s opener which was scored by either Toure or Silva. 7/10.

AML) Raheem Sterling

Wasted a terrific chance to mark his debut with a goal five minutes before the break. The ex-Liverpool winger was a constant threat for City on the left wing and will surely prove to be a brilliant signing for the club. 6/10.

ST) Wilfried Bony

Handed a start ahead of Sergio Aguero and lead the line reasonably well, registered an assist for Toure’s brilliant second and has shown he’s a more than capable alternative to the Argentine. 6/10.
