Man City vs Chelsea: Four key battles in the clash between the two Premier League title favourites

Barclays Premier League champions Chelsea travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon for a clash against fellow title rivals Manchester City.

With such a huge game coming so early in the season, take a look at four key battles that will shape the outcome of the match.

Raheem Sterling vs Branislav Ivanovic

The Blues right-back was given a torrid time against Swansea winger Jefferson Montero last weekend and he will have his hands full with Sterling on Sunday.

The former Liverpool winger was quiet on his debut against West Brom, but will surely be desperate to deliver on his first appearance in City colours at the Etihad.

Diego Costa vs Eliaquim Mangala

Question marks over Mangala still remain as he has failed to justify his £32million price-tag since his arrival from Porto last summer.

The Frenchman is likely to come up against one of the best strikers in the league in Costa and will need to keep the Blues hitman quiet if City are to get achieve a positive result.

Costa should be close to 100% after completing 90 minutes last week and will be hoping to lead the Blues to their first win of the season.

Sergio Aguero vs Asmir Begovic

With Thibaut Courtois suspended for the game after his red card against the Swans last week, Begovic is set to be handed a full league debut and will have the daunting prospect of trying to keep out last season’s top scorer in the Premier League.

Aguero does have a very good record against the Bosnian keeper as he has found the back of net three times in four appearances against the 28-year-old.

Nemanja Matic vs Yaya Toure

This mouth-watering clash between the two best central midfielders in English football will surely have a say as to who leaves with three points this Sunday.

Toure was at his best during the 3-0 win over West Brom earlier in the week, but Matic has managed to stifle the Ivorian in the past and will need to do so again.
