Liverpool FLOP set for Serie A return; AC Milan CEO CONFIRMS talks have taken place over loan deal

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is set for a swift return to Italy after AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani revealed talks are underway regarding a season-long loan deal, Mirror Sport reports.

The Italian striker has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular under manager Brendan Rodgers at Anfield since his arrival from the Rossoneri last summer in a deal worth a reported £16million fee [via BBC Sport].

A long-term injury to Daniel Sturridge at the beginning of last season handed Balotelli an extended run in the side up until Christmas, however, he failed to find the back of the net in the league and was then reduced to an impact role of the substitutes bench.

His one and only league goal for the Reds came against Tottenham back in February and the new arrivals of Christian Benteke and Danny Ings over the summer has effectively ended his career on Merseyside.

It appears a move back to the San Siro for Balotelli is on the horizon following comments from Galliani:

“Certain loves come back, but we’re going to have to wait a while yet before we can sing that about Balotelli,” he told Mediaset TV.

“We’re in talks with Liverpool to bring him back on loan. We’ve not reached an agreement yet about how much of his wage we will have to pay and how much they will pay.”

“So there’s no agreement just yet. The player has realised that this is the very last train for him to get on. He wants to come back, so let’s see,” Galliani added.
