Best ever Premier League debuts: Chelsea ace Pedro joins Manchester United star in top five

Chelsea star Pedro had a brilliant debut for Chelsea on Sunday, looking at home in the team despite only signing for them on Friday.

The 28-year-old scored once and also set up Diego Costa for a goal in the 2-3 win over West Brom, helping the side to record their first victory of the season. After a disappointing draw with Swansea City and a terrible loss to Manchester City the addition of the Spain international appeared to be exactly what the Blues needed.

However, where does he come amongst the best Premier League debuts ever?

5) Fabrizio Ravanelli, Middlesbrough

Players don’t regularly go to the Riverside Stadium from Juventus, but when they do it seems to go well. The forward managed a hat trick in a 3-3 draw with Liverpool in his first match, and became an instant fan favourite.

4) Pedro, Chelsea

A goal and an assist isn’t bad going for your first match, and the former Barcelona man looks set to take the top flight by storm.

3) Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

Two goals against Swansea City, with one being a 30-yard screamer, announced the Argentinian to English football. When not injured, the striker has continued that form for the Citizens in the following four years.

2) Ruud van Nistelrooy, Manchester United

The Dutchman scored twice in a 3-2 win over Fulham on his debut, and continued to impress the Old Trafford faithful with his poaching ability until he moved to Real Madrid in 2006.

1) Jurgen Klinsmann, Tottenham

Two assists and a goal on his introduction to the top flight, but perhaps more importantly the German showed off his famous ‘dive’ celebration when he hit the back of the net.
